Taylorsville Man Deemed By Judge To Be Threat To Community

A Taylorsville man has been arrested and placed in jail under a large bond.

Michael Jovi Simmons, age 39, of McCurdy Farm LN, was taken into custody on Monday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with license revoked. Following an appearance before District Court Judge Thomas R. Young, Simmons was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center with a bond set at $325,000. According to court records, Judge Young cited Simmons as “a threat to the community” in view of his series of convictions and other previous pending charges.

Simmons has convictions on drug and weapons offenses, larceny and more. He has pending charges awaiting trial for larceny in both Alexander and Wilkes Counties.
