The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office has been actively investigating a string of breaking and entering incidents in the Ellendale Community of Alexander County.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Deputies arrested Charles Vincent Packer Jr., age 54 from Taylorsville, on July 2. Packer has been charged with the following offenses:
Four counts of felony breaking and entering
Two counts of larceny after breaking and entering
One count of larceny of a motor vehicle
One count of injury to personal property
In addition, Packer was charged with being a registered sex offender on school premises. The investigation revealed that he was on school property during late-night hours.
Packer is on the sex-offender registry as the result of a 1996 conviction in Catawba County for indecent liberties with a minor.

His first appearance in District Court is scheduled for Monday, July 7.
This investigation remains active, and additional arrests are anticipated in connection with these cases.
