Derek Lynn Sexton
46-year-old Derek Lynn Sexton was arrested by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office early Sunday morning. Deputies had responded to a domestic related issue at a location in Hiddenite but the suspect (Sexton) had left the scene. He was later located and led law enforcement on a chase before being arrested.
Charges include flee to elude arrest, failure to stop for blue lights or siren, careless and reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane control, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
As of earlier today, the suspect remains in the Alexander County Detention Center without bond.
Sexton previous convictions in Alexander County and Iredell County. The charges include felony and misdemeanor larceny, felony breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods, assault, and driving with license revoked.
