During the late evening hours of Sunday, September 13, Deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported larceny at a residence off Millersville Road in Taylorsville. During the incident, a firearm was reported stolen from the victim.
Deputies conducted an extensive search for the suspect, utilizing drones. The suspect could not be located at that time.
In the early morning hours of September 14, Deputies were dispatched back to the same location in reference to a reported motor vehicle theft. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the incident was actually an armed robbery. The suspect allegedly threatened the victim with a firearm and demanded the victim’s vehicle keys before fleeing the area in the stolen vehicle.
Investigators also determined that, prior to the armed robbery, the suspect had gone to other residences in the area and attempted to locate a vehicle to steal. During this time, another firearm was reportedly stolen from a vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was stopped by Deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office following a pursuit where the suspect was taken into custody.

Rios is currently being held at the Alexander County Detention Center under no bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for September 21, 2026.
