Taylorsville’s Jayon Connor Is One Of The Nations Top Basketball Recruits

NC State has extended an offer to rising senior Jayon Connor, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound power forward from Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, North Carolina.

Connor is from Taylorsville and played his first three seasons at Alexander Central. In the 2024-2025 season Conner averaged 27.8 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Cougars. He re-classified as a Junior and transferred to the prep school in Forsyth County prior to this past season.

He’s listed as one of the highest-rated prospects in the state and has quickly become a priority target for high-major programs. 2447 Sports slotted him as the 4th ranked player in North Carolina.

Jayon led the Furies to the State Private School title this past year while scoring 20.6 points per game and pulling down 9.6 rebounds.

Among the offers the Alexander County product has received in addition to NC State include Clemson, Georgia Tech, Houston, Illinois, Michigan State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Uconn, USC, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia. There will be many more !
