July 21, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

A Taylorsville man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on North Center Street in Hickory on Sunday.

Jordan Phillip Daughaday, age 38, died at the scene according to Hickory Police.

HPD responded to the fatal crash along North Center Street/N.C. Highway 127 near 22nd Avenue Northwest shortly after 9 pm on Sunday. A 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling south on North Center Street while a 2016 Nissan Frontier was driving east on 22nd Avenue Northwest, Hickory police said.

The two vehicles collided as the Frontier was turning left onto North Center Street. A press release says excessive speed by the motorcycle was a contributing factor. No charges have been filed as of Monday morning.

Charles Christopher Cagle, 70, of Hickory, was identified as the driver of the Frontier, Hickory police said. Cagle was not injured.
