On August 14th, members of the Blue Ridge Counter Narcotics Task Force, working alongside the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, concluded an ongoing investigation with a traffic stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of narcotics and two firearms.

26-year-old Darrell Jonathan Payne of Sparta is charged with
Felony possession of methamphetamine
Felony trafficking in methamphetamine (5 counts)
Felony trafficking in fentanyl (2 counts)
Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine
Possession of a firearm by a felon
Payne was placed in Alleghany County Detention Center then transferred to the Ashe County Detention Center. Bond is listed at $950,000.
