Statesville Woman Killed In Watauga County Mishap

Boone – On Thursday, September 3rd, at approximately 2:52 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Watauga County on NC 105 at Dove Acres. A 2014 Mitsubishi passenger car was traveling south on NC 105.  The driver attempted a left turn into a private drive and was struck by a northbound flatbed truck.
                                                  
The driver of the Mitsubishi, Veronica Grace Virtue, 21, of Statesville, was transported to Watauga Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries as a result of the collision.
 
The driver of the flatbed, had no injuries.
 
The initial investigation does not indicate speed or alcohol to be contributing factors in the collision.  During the on-scene investigation, NC 105 was closed in the area for approximately one hour.
 
There will be no charges in this case.
