Statesville Too Much For Alexander Central

Statesville: The Greyhounds improved to 4-0 with a win over a tough but over-matched Alexander Central team Friday night.

The Cougars were limited to just 175 yards on the night compared to Statesville’s 261. Both teams had a defensive score. AC’s Maurice Howell Jr returned an interception 15 yards for a score to tie the game at 7 early in the second quarter. Statesville’s Javin Bailey plucked a fumble out of the air and scored from 40 yards for the home team late in the first half to send the teams to the half with Statesville up 21-7.

Alexander Central QB Jacob Hubbard left the game in the first half and did not return due to an injured shoulder.

Statesville’s Manuel Gladden was 8-16 for 133 yards through the air including a touchdown and an interception.

The Cougars Adian Baity caught a 6-yard td toss from backup QB Colton Pierce for ACHS in the 4th quarter.

Alexander Central falls to 1-3.
