On Thursday morning, February 5, officers with the Statesville Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the 1300 block of Wilson Lee Boulevard.
At approximately 10:00 a.m., officers were dispatched after receiving reports of a subject walking down Wilson Lee Boulevard and firing shots at random. Officers quickly responded to the area, and the subject fled on foot.
During the search, officers received information indicating the subject may have entered a nearby residence. Out of an abundance of caution, the Department activated its Special Response Team to assist. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office also responded and provided its Bearcat armored response vehicle to remain on standby.
Officers obtained and were granted a search warrant for the residence. The home was cleared without further incident.
The scene has since been secured, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
