Statesville Man Convicted In Catawba County Superior Court

44-year-old Jasmine Deshon Holmes of Statesville, was sentenced to serve six to eight years in prison following his conviction for obtaining property by false pretense greater than $100,000 and continuing criminal enterprise. He entered a guilty plea during Catawba County Superior Court on Thursday (July 10).

The Honorable Jacqueline Grant, Superior Court Judge from Buncombe County, imposed terms of the active sentence after Holmes entered the guilty plea for his involvement in the theft and distribution of goods from a Maiden company.

The enterprise occurred between March 9, 2024, and May 18, 2024, and investigation started when it was discovered that two truckloads of the company’s goods did not arrive at their intended destination. Holmes and a co-defendant were instrumental in distribution of the stolen goods through various trucking companies. The co-defendant’s case is still pending.

Jaleel Smith was the lead investigator for Maiden Police Department. Assistant District Attorney Howard Wellons prosecuted the matter for the State with aid from Legal Assistant Meredith Scott.
