Statesville Man Charged With Murder

A Statesville man has been arrested and charged with murder.

Statesville Police responded Wednesday evening around 8 pm to a location on Jonathan Lane after report of a breaking and entering in progress. While responding, officers were notified of shots being fired in the area.

A person in the drivers seat of a crashed vehicle was found dead of a gunshot wound. 24-year old Hunter Lee Cottle was taken into custody near the scene. He’s been charged with murder and is being held in the Iredell County Detention Center without bond.

The name of the victim has not been released.
