Statesville Man Arrested On Child Sexual Exploitation Charges

On September 2, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) containing files of possible child pornography. The investigation was assigned to Detective Lane with the Special Victim’s Unit for further investigation. Detective Lane identified the suspect as Nicholas Allen Salkill, 22, of 312 Brookfield Drive Statesville.

During the investigation, it was determined that Salkill was possibly using the social media platform, Discord, for the purposes of downloading child pornography. Detective Lane obtained a search warrant for the Salkill’s social media account and obtained evidence of downloaded child pornography.

Based on collected evidence during the investigation, a warrant was issued for Nicholas Salkill for 3 Counts of Felony Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and 2 Counts of Felony Third Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

Nicholas Salkill was located and arrested by Iredell County Sheriff deputies on October 14 where he was issued a $100,000 secured bond.

The investigation is on-going, and additional charges are pending further investigation.
