A Taylorsville man who suffered multiple stab wounds on Wednesday remains in serious condition but is showing some progress according to Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman. Bowman said Thursday afternoon that 39-year-old Donald McKinney continues to receive treatment at a regional medical facility.
The 14-year-old female who is a suspect in the stabbing has “not yet been charged and is being evaluated at a facility” according to Bowman. The investigation is continuing and the Sheriff said he anticipates that charges will be filed.
McKinney was stabbed in his home off Wood Road Wednesday afternoon. Officers with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and Taylorsville Police responded along with Alexander County EMS and Rescue. McKinney was airlifted to the Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte. The female had fled the scene into a wooded area according to a witness. She was captured following a search by officers.
