St Stephens Claims Win Over Cougars

Taylorsville: The visitors from Catawba County delivered an upset to Alexander Central Tuesday night in the opening round of the league tournament. The Indians trailed by 25-24 at half but dominated the second-half. St Stephens shot 63 percent after intermission and it carried them to the win. JaChavis Sherrill paced the Tribe with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Noah VanBeurden was the top-scorer for AC with 16, no other Cougar hit double-figures. St Stevens (11-14) advanced to the Northwestern Conference Tournament Semi-Finals. Alexander Central falls to 14-10.
