South Iredell Names New Football Coach

March 10, 2022 By Richard C. Gilbert

South Iredell has named a new head football coach.

32-year old Mitch Johnson has been named to take over the Viking program. He spent the last four years as head coach at Appleton West High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. Johnson takes over for Eric Rees, who led the Vikings for one season.

Johnson is familiar with North Carolina. His father was in the military stationed at Fort Bragg for 16 years. He was an assistant at Pinecrest High in Southern Pines for four years prior to moving to the midwest.

South Iredell went 2-8 in 2021.
