On Friday, at approximately 12:50 p.m., the NC Highway Patrol and other agencies responded to an airplane crash in Alexander County near Crossroads Grill on Rink Dam Road. A single-engine plane was attempting to land at a private field when it crashed.
The pilot, Gregory Alan Deal, 74 of Morganton, and a passenger were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The FAA will conduct an investigation.
