Word of the Day: lumen [loo-muhn] unit of luminous flux equal to the light emitted. There are two common units for measuring light, the candela (candle power) and the lumen. Luminous flux indicates how much light is actually perceived by the human eye while candela is a measure of intensity. From Latin meaning light or window. “Bright lights with 3,000 lumens or more are best for garages.”
