Phipps Leaving Caldwell County Schools For Top Post In Winston-Salem

Don Phipps, the current superintendent for Caldwell County Schools is leaving to take over Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

Phipps will replace Catty Moore, whose six-month contract with the school district ends at the end of November. His first day will be December 1. Phipps will receive a salary of $280,000 a year according to a press release.

Phipps was superintendent of Beaufort County Schools for eight years before taking the top position at Caldwell County Schools in 2018. Phipps was named the 2023 Superintendent of the Year by the N.C. Association of School Administrators, the N.C. Schools Superintendents’ Association and the N.C. School Boards’ Association.
