To answer a need in the community, Peoples Drug Store has opened Express Care to provide medical assistance without an appointment. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, November 14, at 11:00 a.m. at their newly renovated location at 255 NC Highway 16 South in Taylorsville. Owner Phil Icard invites the public to attend.
Peoples Express Care now fills the need of medical assistance for citizens since the former urgent care facility closed.
“After the closing of the urgent care this summer, people kept coming to the building trying to get in,” said owner Phil Icard. “After researching and locating two nurse practitioners, we were ready to start Express Care. I have always felt the people of Alexander County deserve access to health care seven days per week. Being an independent business, we knew we were able to take this on and provide a much-needed service to our county.”
Peoples Express Care is open seven days a week: Monday through Friday, 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Peoples Drug Store has been serving the citizens of the Taylorsville community since it originally opened at 12 West Main Avenue in 1918. The evolution of the company has continued to provide quality, professional products and services to the people of Alexander County for more than 100 years. In addition, the store’s exterior was revamped to enhance curb appeal.
“Our business was established in 1918. We have always felt it our responsibility to assist our county in any way we can,” said Icard. “Our current building is 51 years old. After recently purchasing the building, it was time for a facelift. We invested in the improvements to better serve the citizens of Alexander County.”
