A driver struck and killed a pedestrian this morning in Statesville.
According to Statesville Police, the collision happened around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of West Raleigh Avenue and Fifth Street.
Police say the car jumped a curb and struck 62-year old Carl Russel Daye who walking along the street around 2:30 am. The car then struck a home. Daye was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was injured and taken to a hospital.
