Passenger Killed In Catawba County Mishap

Terrell- On Friday, May 8th at approximately 3:23 p.m., The NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision on Mount Pleasant Road, in Catawba County. A 2021 Dodge Charger traveling on Mount Pleasant Road near Trailwood Drive, drove off the roadway to the right and collided with a concrete culvert. The vehicle then overturned causing three passengers to be entrapped.
 
The driver of the Dodge, Norman Miller, 65, of Sherill’s Ford, Transported to Catawba Hospital by EMS, with minor injuries.
 
The front seat passenger, Joshua Freeman, 34, of Oregon, was transported to Catawba Hospital by EMS, with minor injuries.
 
The back seat passenger, Mary Miller, 57, of Sherill’s Ford, succumbed to her injuries as a result the collision.
 
Speed or Impairment were not believed to be contributing factors in the collision; however, Mrs. Mary Miller was not wearing her seatbelt during the collision. At this time no charges have been filed.
