One Killed, Another Injured In Iredell County Explosion

April 7, 2026 By Richard C. Gilbert

A tanker truck explosion at an industrial park in Iredell County left one person dead and another hurt on Tuesday morning.

The chemical explosion was reported around 7:15 am at Carolina Beverage Group on Barley Park Lane in Mooresville.

A town spokesperson confirmed the death and said another person was taken to Charlotte for medical treatment.

The Mooresville Fire and Rescue chief said the chemical involved was sodium hydroxide, and that a second leak was found from a stationary nitrogen tank. The spokesperson urged the public to avoid the area but said there was no danger to the surrounding community.

The Mooresville facility is one of three Carolina Beverage Group locations, with the other two in Texas and Minnesota. According to the company’s website, the Mooresville location was built in 1997 and produces unique beverages in cans ranging in size from 8-24 ounces, plus those with the re-sealable “CapCan.”
