One person is dead and two are wounded following a Burke County exchange of gunfire.
According to a press release from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded on Saturday around 5:45 pm. A shootout had been reported at a location in the area of Kathy Road and McAlpine Avenue in Morganton. Upon arrival, deputies found that one victim with a gunshot injury had been transported by personal vehicle to UNC Blue Ridge Hospital in Morganton. The victim was reported deceased.
A second victim suffered a gunshot wound and was transported by Burke EMS to the hospital. A third gunshot victim refused treatment.
No other details have been released aside that there was an exchange of gunfire involving multiple subjects.
