ᴄᴀᴛᴀᴡʙᴀ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛʏ, ɴᴄ – On May 10, 2026, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding allegations of a sex offense involving a child. The Criminal Investigations Division Special Victims Unit (SVU) initiated an investigation into the allegations which were reported to have occurred at a residence in Catawba County.
As a result of this investigation, investigators took Coy L. Scott, 52, of Newton, into custody on Friday, May 15, 2026, for the alleged offenses.
Scott has been charged with:
• Statutory Sex Offense With a Child
• First Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
Coy L. Scott received no bond and is scheduled to make a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on May 18, 2026.
