43-year old Chance Jerome Seagle was arrested overnight by Newton Police and charged with attempted first-degree arson. Seagle, from Newton was also charged with multiple other offenses including resisting a public officer. He is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with a secured bond of $50,000. An initial court appearance is scheduled today.
