A Newton man is jailed without bond following an incident on Saturday. Newton Police have charged 24-year old Freeman Derran Haney with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon, injury to personal property and a crime of domestic violence. Haney is scheduled to make an appearance on Monday in Catawba County District Court.
