Newton Man Arrested On Virginia Fugitive Warrant

34-year-old Justin Daniel Tobias of Newton was arrested by Newton Police on Monday and charged as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. Tobias is wanted by the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office in Chatham, Virginia for possession of methamphetamine.

Tobias was initially placed on probation in Virginia in January as a first offender. According to paperwork from the Sheriff’s Office, he is now in violation of the first offender statute as the result of his alleged failure to abstain from the use of illegal drugs.

Following his arrest today, Tobias was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility where he is being held without bond.
