Newton Man Arrested After Vehicle Chase

A Newton man is facing a long list of charges following his arrest Thursday.

39-year old Jason Travis Shook was arrested by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office after a vehicle pursuit. He charged with multiple counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon, assault on a government official and resisting arrest. He is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with a secured bond of $250,000 and will make a court appearance today in Newton.
