The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office arrested Matthew Steven Baird, age 34 of Morganton, on Thursday, March 7th and charged him with felony obtaining property by false pretense. He has been released under a secured bond of $20,000 and was scheduled to make an initial appearance in Alexander County District Court on Monday.
