Joshua Adam King Jr
According to multiple published reports, The Forest City Police Department in Rutherford County says King is one of two suspects charged in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in July. On July 13, police were called to the scene on Harmon Street where they found 29-year-old Brandon Gerard Holland in the front yard suffering from several gunshot wounds. He passed away from injuries sustained in the shooting. A reward was later offered for the capture of the suspects responsible.
A second victim, a Forest City woman, was also found. She was also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Hospital. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said the July 13 shooting was related to another shooting the day before, July 12, where shots were fired into a home on Chase High Road. Authorities say no one was injured in the July 12 incident.
According to police reports, the first suspect, Zachariah Da’Vine Hines was indicted for first-degree murder on December 4. The second suspect, Joshua Adam King Jr., was served the warrant for accessory after the fact in Morganton on Tuesday. Hines was placed in jail without bond, according to reports. King was being held at the Burke County Jail.
Published reports say authorities in Morganton said both Hines and King were arrested in August 2023, along with another suspect, in connection to a home invasion. The charge of discharging a firearm filed against King is connected to that incident. As of earlier today (December 14), King was being held in the Burke County Jail under $400,000 secured bond.
