Danny Lee Berry
Deputies responded to a report of a child suffering from a single gunshot wound at 1675 Berrytown Avenue in Morganton. A three-year old child was suffering a gunshot wound to a foot. The youth was airlifted to a regional medical facility.
The investigation revealed the firearm involved was not properly secured, leading to the incident. Warrants were issued for Danny Lee Berry, age 57 of Morganton. Berry is charged with Felony Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Misdemeanor Failure to Secure a Firearm in the Protection of a Minor. Berry is reported to have surrendered to the Burke County Magistrate and was held in the Burke County Detention Center with a secured bond listed for $50,000.
