Morganton Man Arrested After Chase In Alexander County

A Morganton man is facing charges following a brief vehicle chase early Tuesday morning in Alexander County.

An Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle around 1am on Highway 127. The driver initially refused to stop and led the Deputy on a brief chase before pulling over.

Michael Curtis Hallyburton, age 60 of Morganton, is charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, driving with license revoked and failure to stop for a blue light and siren.

Hallyburton was placed in the Alexander County Jail under a secured bond of $20,000.
