More Felony Drug Trafficking Charges Filed Against Taylorsville Couple

A man and a woman arrested last week in Alexander County now face additional drug trafficking charges.

As reported on August 15th, the duo was arrested by the NC Highway Patrol in Alexander County. Both suspects now face additional charges involving trafficking drugs. The bond amount for both was increased as well.

Christopher Eugene McCrary, age 45 of Taylorsville is charged with felony trafficking fentanyl, felony trafficking opium or heroin, felony possession of heroin, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. McCrary’s bond is now set at $410,000 up from $200,000.
Chanda Rae Wortman, age 37 of Taylorsville is charged with felony trafficking fentanyl, felony trafficking opium or heroin, felony possession of heroin, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The new charges have brought her bond amount to $450,00 up from $200,000.

Both suspects remain in jail.

Earlier this the week, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office announced they were part of the investigation along with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, NC SBI and the Lenoir Police Department.
