Man Pleads Guilty To Kidnapping And Indecent Liberties In Catawba County Court

23-year-old Cameron Michael Blair of Sanford has pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping and indecent liberties with a child. He entered the plea in Catawba County Superior Court on Tuesday, March 5th. Blair was sentenced to serve 52-123 months and 16-29 months concurrently in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.

The conviction stems from an incident that occurred in southeastern Catawba County on April 5 of last year. Blair began interacting with a Catawba County teen via an internet gaming site in early 2023. This interaction led Blair, who is also listed as a Virginia resident, to travel to the teen’s home on April 5. During that time, Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the teen’s neighborhood.

When Deputies arrived, they found Blair and the victim seated in his car. Deputies removed the teen from Blair’s vehicle and contacted the victim’s parent. Blair was taken into custody and placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility, where he has remained since his arrest.

Catawba County Sheriff Don Brown expressed his appreciation to the neighbors for making the call that allowed Deputies to intervene.
