A Taylorsville man is listed in critical condition after being stabbed on Wednesday afternoon.
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and Taylorsville Police responded to a residence off Wood Road shortly before 5pm. Wood Road is west of Taylorsville off Three Forks Church Road. An unidentified white male had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and upper torso.
A witness told officers that a 14-year-old female had ran from the location into a wooded area. Officers searched the location for nearly an hour with assistance from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and a North Carolina Department of Public Safety K-9. North Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers, and Officer with the Office of Probation and Parole also assisted in the search. The female was located and taken into custody without incident according to a news release. The Juvenile Court Counselors Office from the Department of Juvenile Justice was contacted in reference to the incident.
The victim, identified as 39-year-old Donald McKinney was airlifted to a regional medical facility with life-threatening wounds. The suspect and the victim were neighbors but the circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear. Sheriff Chris Bowman said that there has been no issues regarding the juvenile and McKinney in the past to his knowledge.
