Man Held Without Bond After Saturday Vehicle Chase In Alexander County

A Newton man is being held in custody without bond following a vehicle chase Saturday night in Alexander County. Jose Louis Ramirez-Berreto, age 25 is facing a list of charges that include

Felony possession of cocaine
Felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance
Felony altering criminal evidence
Felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle
Careless and reckless driving
Failure to yield at stop sign or flashing light

Ramirez-Berreto was apprehended by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office following a vehicle pursuit on Highway 127 in Bethlehem. The suspect is being held without bond in the Alexander County Detention Center pending an initial appearance today in District Court.
