The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a man was found dead on Sunday near the High Country Fairgrounds.
Deputies responded to a location off Roby Greene Road in Boone. A man had been shot according to reports.
28-year old John Nicholas Porter was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
