
William Marshal Shook
On Tuesday, in Alexander County Superior Court, 33-year-old William Marshall Shook agreed to a plea deal for second-degree murder of then 54-year-old Jamie Suzette McCloud of Taylorsville.
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 1:03 PM, deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located at 209 Stan De La Drive, Taylorsville, regarding a death investigation.
Upon arrival, officers located McCloud deceased in her home. The body was transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital for an autopsy. Following the examination, the Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as homicide.
During the investigation, it was determined that McCloud and the suspect, William Marshal Shook, were involved in a dating relationship. At the scene, deputies discovered that the victim’s vehicle, a 2005 gray Toyota Tacoma, was missing. A warrant was issued for Shook.
On Thursday, October 9, as result of a traffic stop, deputies with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio located the stolen vehicle in Lancaster, Ohio and took Shook into custody on the outstanding larceny warrant.
On Monday, October 13, 2025, Shook waived extradition during a court appearance in Ohio. He was transported back to Alexander County and charged with one count of murder in connection to the death of Jamie McCloud.
As part of the plea agreement, Shook will serve 219-275 months in prison. The larceny of a motor vehicle charge was dismissed.
