The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office investigated an early morning residential fire on Spring Valley Place in the Dudley Shoals area of Caldwell County.
Deputies arrived on scene as Grace Chapel Fire Department, Little River Fire Department, and the Caldwell County Fire Marshal’s Office were actively working to extinguish the blaze to assist with the investigation. Firefighters discovered a resident in the basement of the home. The individual, identified as Howard Thomas Jackson, age 60, was later pronounced deceased at the scene by Caldwell County emergency personnel.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Caldwell County Fire Marshal’s Office.
