A Connelly Springs man is being held under a $150,000 secured bond on a felony charge that he fled a Catawba County sheriff’s deputy at 113 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Charging documents filed in Catawba County District Court accuse 43-year-old Stacy Allen Clinton of driving away from a deputy who had stopped him for speeding on N.C. 18 South at Jacob Fork Road in Vale on May 9. The documents list his speed at 113 mph.

Clinton faces one felony count of fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, along with misdemeanor counts of driving while license revoked, reckless driving and speeding. The documents allege three aggravating factors: reckless driving, exceeding the limit by more than 15 mph, and driving on a revoked license.
