Man Charged After Fatal Hickory Crash

On July 3, 2025 at approximately 11:39 p.m. Hickory Police Officers responded to a fatal traffic crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Hwy 321 and Clement Boulevard NW.

During the investigation, officers determined that a Jeep Wrangler traveling south on Hwy 321 collided with a Chevrolet Trax that was traveling west on Clement Boulevard NW.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Jeana Rose Foster, 26, of Morganton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three juveniles were also traveling in the Chevrolet and suffered various injuries. All three juveniles were transported from the scene to area hospitals for treatment. Two of the juveniles were hospitalized, and one has been released.

Officers also determined that the driver of the Wrangler entered the intersection under a red light and was also impaired. The driver, Scott Alan Lail, 55, of Hickory was charged with driving while impaired, felony death by vehicle, and two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle.
