Man Arrested After “Standoff” In Alexander County

A man is in custody following what Sheriff Chad Pennell says was a standoff overnight.

Deputies responded to a residence on Chapman Court on Tuesday afternoon. A man had barricaded himself inside a home and placed furniture against doors restricting entry. The Sheriff’s Office had been called as result of the suspect allegedly threatening a female. The standoff ended after the subject was subjected to a taser.

61-year-old Kerry Phillip Bowers of Salisbury is charged with

Second-degree trespassing
Assault/communicating threats
Resisting arrest.

Bowers is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center.
