An 18-year-old man is in custody following a bank robbery in Statesville Friday.
First National Bank on East Front Street reported that an unarmed man had robbed the business about 9:20 am.
The Statesville Police Department said the man entered the bank, approached an employee and demanded money. He did not imply that he was armed and didn’t use a gun in the robbery according to investigators. The man fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police located a man matching the description of the suspect as as he was about to walk into Bank of America on West Broad Street just after 10 a.m.
Bryce Xavier Harper-Coney of Statesville, was taken into custody and charged with common law robbery. He was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.
