Major Meth Bust Announced By Burke County Sheriff’s Office

July 13, 2026 By Richard C. Gilbert

Over the past year, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extensive investigation into a drug trafficking organization involving multiple individuals.

As a result of the investigation, law enforcement officers seized more than 27 pounds of methamphetamine. Two individuals, Diamond Sharell Lipscomb and Jennifer Nicole Halstead, have each been charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine.

On July 9, 2026, investigators attempted to stop a vehicle being operated by Lipscomb. Before a traffic stop could be initiated, Lipscomb exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, he was taken into custody without further incident.

Diamond Sharell Lipscomb

At the time of his arrest, Lipscomb had outstanding warrants for Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine and several traffic-related offenses, including Felony Flee to Elude Arrest. He was transported to the Burke County Jail, where he appeared before a magistrate and was ordered held without bond. Lipscomb also received a $75,000 secured bond for the traffic offenses.

On July 10, 2026, Lipscomb made his first appearance in Burke County District Court; his bond was set on the drug charges at $500,000 secured. The $75,000 secured bond for the traffic-related offenses remained unchanged. Total bond for Lipscomb is $575,000 secured.

Jennifer Nicole Halstead

Also on July 10, 2026, Jennifer Nicole Halstead was arrested following a traffic stop in Connelly Springs. Halstead had outstanding warrants for Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine. She was taken into custody without incident. Halstead received a $500,000 secured bond at the Magistrate’s Office.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all of the law enforcement agencies that assisted with this investigation. Through strong partnerships and teamwork, law enforcement agencies continue to disrupt illegal drug trafficking operations and help make our communities safer for the citizens of Burke County and surrounding counties.
