Lenoir – On Sunday, April 7, at approximately 3:10 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Caldwell County on Calico Road near Townsend Place. A 2006 Ford F-250 was traveling south on Calico Road, crossed the centerline, drove off the left side of the road, struck a tree, overturned, and came to rest on the driver’s side in a creek.
The driver, David Patterson Jr., 25, of Lenoir, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was not restrained by a seatbelt.
The initial investigation indicates impairment to be the contributing factor in the collision. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was partially closed in the area for approximately two hours.
