Casey Charles Bentley
Casey Charles Bentley, age 33, was arrested Monday morning by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault-inflicting serious bodily injury . The charge came as the result of an incident at the Wittenburg Access on Lake Hickory in the Bethlehem Community.
Sheriff Chad Pennell said Monday that Bentley attacked 55-year old Kenneth Young of Lenoir. Young allegedly had made inappropriate comments about Bentley’s teenage daughter. Young was taken to a regional medical facility and succumbed to his injuries Wednesday evening.
On Thursday evening, Bentley surrendered without incident to the Alexander County Detention Center and was charged with murder. He is being held without bond with a first court appearance in Taylorsville scheduled for Monday.
