Lenoir Man Charged With Alexander County Murder Scheduled To Make Court Appearance Today

A Lenoir man charged with murder in Alexander County is scheduled to make a district court appearance today in Taylorsville.

Casey Charles Bentley, age 33, was arrested Labor Day morning by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and charged then with assault-inflicting serious bodily injury . The charge came as the result of an incident at the Wittenburg Access on Lake Hickory in the Bethlehem Community.

The investigation has determined that Bentley attacked 55-year old Kenneth Young of Lenoir. Young allegedly had made inappropriate comments about Bentley’s teenage daughter. Young was taken to a regional medical facility and succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, September 4th.

Bentley had been released under a secured $75,000 bond after original charges. He turned himself into the Alexander County Detention Center last Thursday after the murder charge was filed. He’s being held without bond.
