July 4th Drowning Confirmed In Caldwell County

On Friday, July 4, 2025, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and emergency personnel responded to a possible drowning incident near Southlakes Drive in the Grace Chapel Community.

According to witnesses, a 19-year-old male from Lenoir had been using a rope swing in the area when he entered the water and did not resurface. Hickory Fire Department personnel located the victim and began lifesaving efforts. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

No other information has been released at this time.
