Iredell Deputies Arrest Couple For Trafficking Meth

On Friday, June 6, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office SERT members, narcotics investigators, and members of the Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant at 120 Fairdale Road northwest of Statesville.

Narcotics investigators had received complaints from citizens about possible drug activity. Detectives began conducting surveillance operations and determined the information was correct. James William Smith was identified as a suspect.

Undercover narcotics investigators were able to make purchases of crystal methamphetamine directly from Smith while inside the residence.

Based on all the evidence gathered throughout this investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence.
During the search, 10 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, 71 dosage units of Clonazepam, and 25 dosage units of Subutex were found. The total street value of the seized narcotics is 2,105.00. Both Smith and James were arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where they were charged with:

James William Smith, age 48:, is charged with Four Counts of Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule III Controlled Substance, and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle or Dwelling for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance. Smith is being held in custody with a $120,000 secured bond.

Kira Holly James, age 43, is charge with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule III Controlled Substance, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, and Felony Maintain a Vehicle or Dwelling for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance. James was issued a $45,000 secured bond on these charges.
